I really enjoyed this book. It's very light, it's laugh-out-loud funny in spots, it captures the essence of middle school girls, it will be very easy to booktalk or handsell to girls looking for a quick read or to teachers looking for recreational material to supplement their Mythology units, but I don't think it has the "literary quality" I've come to expect from Newbery winners.
I laughed right through this book, its a fun read.
I loved this book; and while I don't think of it as a Newbery contender, I think it's an up-and-coming series that library staff should know about because it supports mythology units in such an appealing way. Smart and funny with mythological nuggets sprinkled throughout.
I agree, not Newbery but definitely has an audience.
Why is it taking me so long to get through this book? I think it's a great way to introduce mythology to kids but not so much Newbury. Many of the forces that Pandora faces are relative to early-teenage girls today so I would suggest it to our "girly series" lovers.
I'm just a ten year old, but I loved this book. It my not be the best book on the list but it's very good. I can't wait for Pandora to be vain, lazy, and have all the other bad qualities.
