The winner of the 2010 John Newbery Medal for most outstanding contribution to children's literature is When You Reach Me by Rebecca Stead.This title was selected as the Mock Winner by the (adult) ACPL Mock Newbery Group which met and discussed books on January 9th. It was also selected by by the ACPL Mock Newbery for Kids group which met and discussed books on January 10th.
Four Newbery Honor Books were also named:
- Claudette Colvin: Twice Toward Justice by Phillip Hoose
- The Evolution of Calpurnia Tate by Jacqueline Kelly
- Where the Mountain Meets the Moon by Grace Lin
- The Mostly True Adventures of Homer P. Figg by Rodman Philbrick
