We have copies of this book in our collection, but they are all checked out. :-( I will add the first line to this blog post as soon as I get my hands on a copy.

Estonian Dancer: I can't wait to read this title either!

Okay.... a colleague just pointed out that this book was published last year in 2007. I still can't wait to read it, but it is not eligible for this year's Mock Newbery discussion. I'll refer all you Spinelli fans to Smiles to Go which is due out very shortly. (And is really quite good!)

Hmmmm...I was just reading a children's book publishing mag and it says "Love Stargirl", which is the the long awaited sequel to "STARGIRL" will be "published in June 2008"....that is very deceptive, as indeed, the sequel was published in 2007 as you so rightly pointed out!
I think they are referring to the paperback copy being published this year....but still!!
Usually I take notice when Jerry Spinelli publishes a new title, but "Love, Stargirl" completely passed me by last year! And it passed some of you by as well!!!

Now I've read it; and not to be a nay-sayer, but I was really underwhelmed. It may be, perhaps, because I was so taken by the first book.

I found Stargirl's relationship with Dootsie, as well as many other characters, to be a little too saccharine for my liking. There were some truly beautiful moments, however, and I'm not sorry to have discovered it, even so late in the game.
