This book felt like a lot of work to me-- I wonder whether every book I read describes clothing as much, but I don't notice because I already understand what the clothing is and don't need to look it up or simply understand it in context-- but it was still a fascinating story. I may go back and read Shabanu now. AFTER I read the other mock titles for the year!
