LEUs Available for Attending Mock Election Programs at the ACPL

I am very happy to announce that Indiana librarians attending the Mock Newbery program in January will receive one LEU (Library Education Unit) for their participation. Woo-Hoo! Hopefully, this will encourage more librarians to become involved in this program.

Registration for the Mock Newbery Election program -- to be held on January 17th from 9:00 to 1:00 pm -- is now open; click here to register.

The Children's Services department is offering three additional Mock Election programs this year:

Mock Caldecott -- a discussion of the newest and best picture books published in 2008. Click here to register for the Mock Caldecott Election program which will be held on Saturday, January 10, 2009 from 9:00 to 1:00 pm. Participating Indiana librarians will receive one LEU.

Mock Geisel -- a discussion of this year's best early reader books. Click here to register for the Mock Geisel Election program which will be held on Saturday, January 10, 2009 from 2:00 to 5:30 pm. Participating Indiana librarians will receive one LEU.

Mock Sibert -- a discussion of this year's best informational book for children. Click here to register for the Mock Sibert Election program which will be held on Saturday, January 17, 2009 from 2:00 to 5:30 pm. Participating Indiana librarians will receive one LEU.

In addition, the ACPL Young Adults' department is offering a Mock Printz program. Participants in this program will also receive one LEU.

That's wonderful news! I'm so happy that the importance of keeping up with and discussing new children's literature are being recognized and encouraged in this way.

Man, I'm also disappointed that my subject/verb tense is incorrect in my previous comment. The importance IS being recognized.

Hi Mary

It's Kerry here, the Middle Grade Fiction organizer for the Cybils. I just wanted to leave a comment on the blog to see if you received my email yesterday regarding signing up for the Cybils database. If so, could you reply to my email so that I know you got it? Thanks!

Thanks for leaving a note, Kerry. Your email had been safely tucked away in my SPAM folder, but I retrieved it and replied. I'm looking forward to working with you!

This is awesome! This is clearly fun, but I'm glad this program is being recognized as being extremely beneficial for our patron base as well.
