Good story! I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this one to my young friends.
I really enjoyed this book. I think Hiaasen did a great job of intertwining the characters and plot with his ever-present theme of preserving wildlife and its ecosystems. I LOVED the title of the book, and especially the way he used it throughout the book. Compared to Hoot, this is by far my favorite. Definitely a contender in my eyes!
I really enjoyed this one. I don't want to leave any spoilers, so I'll just mention that I reviewed it at http://shelf-employed.blogspot.com/2009/07/scat.html with a few minor spoilers.
