I enjoyed The Night Fairy and plan to send it off to my six year old great-niece. The touches of nature are very sweet -- but it seems a bit thin for a Newbery.
It was a an ok story, but there was something about it I didn't like. Maybe I would have liked it better if they had fleshed out the characters a bit more. I don't think it deserves the Newbery.
For what it is, it is wonderful.
An action-packed magical journey with nature inspired illustrations of the plucky Flory, diminutive heroine of The Night Fairy.
