Not much happens in this book. It's almost entirely narrative, with very little dialog or action. The doll characters and general tone of the book are way too precious to appeal to contemporary kids. The story is didactic and the only conflict (the sullen girl who owns the dolls) is resolved too easily. I can't imagine how this book would hold any child's interest.
I agree. This was a quick read, but somewhat boring.
