I just finished this last night. It was a pleasurable read. One of my favorite parts was the characterization of the cousins. The boys as babysitters (members of the diaper gang) was comical and unexpected.

I agree that the characterization of the boys was comical. This book did not please me though--I did listen to it on CD though, so some of that may be due to the choice of reader. I felt like the language was forced. I didn't think that kids would really talk like that, but then again, it does take place in the 1930s, so maybe.
